Making the Appropriate Referral

September 8, 2011

This may be unusual but I am posting solely for the purpose of referring readers to another post, this one about what leadership means.

Gene Lyon’s recent  column on Salon entitled “The Perils of Obama’s Lazy Narrative” includes a hyperlink to an even better, more significant article in the New York Times Sunday Review, dated August 8, 2011 entitled “What Happened to Obama? by a psychologist named Drew Westen. The Jonathan Chaits of the world should read Weston’s article. All those who think the Obama administration could not have done more than they have done should read it.  I haven’t seen a clearer elucidation of the failure of leadership that has led to so much disappointment with the current administration and  its failure to seize the moment of oportunity instead of letting it slip away.  It didn’t have to be this way. I could not have said it better.  As Paul Krugamn observed some time ago, by failing to use political capital when he had it, he’s lost it and now we are stuck.

I’m not tech-savvy enough to embed a hyperlink here, but you can access the article either through Lyon’s column or on the NYT website.
