The Rally to Restore Sanity

October 31, 2010

Jon Stewart’s and Stephen Colbert’s “Rally to Restore Sanity” at the Mall in Washington D.C.  attracted 215,000 people according to a CBS estimate; 200,000 was the estimate of the US Park Service.  (In contrast, Glenn Beck’s “Restore Honor Rally” in August was attended by an estimated 87,000, per CBS ).

Commentators noted that although the rally was almost entirely non-partisan, it won’t be seen as such since  “reason and civility”, the major themes,  are practically the Democratic Party’s  entire platform these days.  Another wag labelled the gathering “Sane Clown Posse”.  (Ask a teenager if you don’t get the reference).
